Looks like Tract Records(www.tractrecords.com) will be releasing a new cd featuring Devendra Banhart along with songs from Bay Area musician Joanna Newsom. Also they have released/are releasing "Eye Of The Beholder Vol 3" which features an alternate recording of Devendras "Onward The Indian", here titled "Nature Walk".
Here is their words on the split:
The split CD with Devendra Banhart is being worked on this month and a partner has been announced. JOANNA NEWSOM: A fine harp player and vocalist who has recently signed to DRAG CITY records will supply the second half of the CD. Look for this release toward the end of the year.

Look out for her new full length on Drag City early next year. Great bay area artist that makes me really happy. Check out www.walnutwhales.com and download her track Bridges and Balloons. Then buy both her cds (Walnut Whales and the Yarn and Glue ep) to enhance your life. I saw here play last night and it was a totally wonderful expierence not to be missed.

Tue, December 2, 2003 - 1:01 AMLooks like the split was cancelled. According to the Tract Records site(www.tractrecords.com)"the Devendra Banhart/Joanna Newsom split has been scrapped due to label obligations and unavoidable roadblocks on the part of the artists". That sucks.

Sat, December 13, 2003 - 4:02 PMShe told me to check at either her shows or at the Amoeba in the city. Also since her new album will be out on Drag City in Feb. or so her self released cds will stop being burned sometime around now. If you try all that you can to buy one and that dosn't work as a last resort I can burn you a copy.
